Saint Marinos the Martyr

Commemorated on October 18

Born in the Third Century after Christ, Marino’s is an excellent example of a noble soul who fights away from passions for the love of Christ.

He was born in Rome to an established family. When he came of age, he was given title as a Senator. With a compassionate and meek soul, he had great love for his people. He was especially generous to the poor or needy. This caused his fellow men to question his intentions leading them to uncover his devotion to Christ.

Being in a class of idol worshippers, they were envious of his good hearted nature. Out of wicked intent, they took him from power and turned him to the Royal Court.

There he was pressured to worship the pagan Gods, but Marinos was steadfast with his faith and refused. He was sentenced to great tortures before finally being beheaded.

Christians properly buried his body as he then was with peace in the glory of heaven.
