Polychronios the Hieromartyr

From a young age Polychronius had a love of hard work and the ascetic lifestyle. Maintaining his Christian virtue, he always reminded pious. When he came of age, he left his father’s land where he had grown working diligently, and went to work for at wealthy man’s vineyard.

The rich owner was surprised at the martyrs desire for hard labor and self-discipline. Because he worked well, and this gladdened the vineyard owner, he was paid with a large sum of money. The saint, always keeping his love of God, used the payment to build an Christian Orthodox Church. Thereafter, he was ordained a priest and it is even kept among history that he was one of those who participated in the first Ecumenical Council. He taught many for Christ and guided them to the faith. Arian heretics killed him at the altar of the church, where he willingly gave his life to Christ. Always serving the Lord from an early age, he left the world with peace.
